Kwara NLC and Syndromic One-Chance
Recall that September 10 is the National
Anti-Corruption Day. This day in a year is set aside reemphasize the harm that
corruption has done; is doing; and will do to the nation's socio-political and
economic sectors.
It with this premise that the joint efforts
of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) were sought
to demonstrate the support of Nigeria workers to the posture of the President
Mohammodu Buhari to fighting corruption.
The NLC and TUC in Kwara State joined their
counterparts in the states of the Federation to have a 'street-show' or a
'Freedom Walk' in their respective states. The properly disposition of Kwara
workers to this gesture was evidence in the turnout for the rally that took off
from the Kwara Labour House beside Kwara State High Court Ilorin at about 10am
under the coordinator-ship of Comrade David Kayode Ehindero, the NLC State
Treasurer.
No fewer than 1,000 workers participated in
the rally that draw its members from some NLC and TUC affiliate unions, Civil
Society Organizations (CSO), National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), National
Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) among others.
The 'Walker' who were evidently displeased by
the NLC Chair's 'thank you' speech to the state governor on whatever began to
sing songs like Iwo na l'owo n be/2ce Bi Nigeria se daru; gbogbo yin na l'owo n
be. This practically put an end to the rally as no other person was neither
allowed to talk nor the governor's representative allowed to deliver message.
It was a Show of Shame Kwara, workers are
highly disappointed.
